My first reaction to this is WHY? While not a fan of the Quaker Chewy Granola bar, I definitely didn’t think there was something that needed tinkering in them, i.e. the sensory experience.
But according to Consumer Reports, these bars are noted to have rated poorly for things like stale flavors and gritty textures.
So I guess the solution is to make the bar feel like an explosion in your mouth, thereby causing the consumer to forget about the crappy flavors and texture?
I have seen the “pop rock experience” make its way into candy bars (i.e firecracker bars, pop rocks chocolate bar, etc). Just not sure what the point of the popping sensation in a granola bar would be? I guess lunch time at school is not wild enough, let’s give the kids something more to get hyper about!
